Rock Band 2 details

As we all now know, Rock Band 2 is coming out for the Xbox 360 this September, and will be fully backwards compatible with the previous instruments as well as all the downloadable content you've gotten. Here's some new info on the game, a rumored tracklist and some other details.

Rumor 1 - All Rock Band 1 tracks will be available to download for free:

Xbox360.IGN.com editor Nate Ahearn had this to say in a discussion on GHWT vs Rock Band 2:

Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour create an interesting situation for gamers. If you bought Rock Band 1 then chances are you’ll feel cheated by the release of RB2, thus you’d think that GHWT would be the way to go as it somewhat redefines the music gaming genre. However, if you didn’t buy the first Rock Band then I would absolutely agree with notagoth. Immediately upon purchasing Rock Band 2 you’ll have the ability to download a huge library of songs, as well as all of the songs off of the original disc as a free download. Then again, Guitar Hero World Tour does allow users to create and share their own songs, so it’s really only a matter of time until the Rock Band library is eclipsed. At the end of the day it could come down to which series has earned your allegiance over the last year since RB’s original release.

Rumor 2 - The Tracklist:

On Wikipedia, there is claims of a playtester who has played the game, and posted as many tracks as he could remember, which is a pretty good amount. Some thoughts after the list:

Thanks raider 76 for the link. any way I think its a well balanced set list and my dad knows about 20 of these songs. i know only 15, but people proclaim its good songs so I'll see. Btw wikipedia is already my source on info.

Remember, these are still rumors. We can be as optomistic as we want, but wikipedia is generated by the public, which is known for posting absolute crap. The songs are awesome, but keep it in the back of your mind that it might not be true.

Well, i think Rock Band 2 Should Get Some Wolfmother First For DLC's cuz Wolfmother is just amazing, and they should get some tom petty, ive overheard most people ask for tom petty and wolfmother, so im just saying what needs to be said.

Raider 76 said...

tom petty sucks and i really havent heard to many people wanting him on rockband and wolfmother has 2 good songs woman and joker and the theif. woman would be fun but i wouldnt say it is a must. Musts include three days grace, bullet for my valentine, and breaking benjamin

robby (robert) said...

I'm not a big fan of tom petty (don't do me like that would be alright). And raider is right wolf mother has thowe two songs and thats it. three days grace would be cool.

did you see the official list of 10 songs that have been confirmed as being in RB2?
* Cheap Trick "Hello There"
* Dream Theater "Panic Attack "
* Elvis Costello "Pump it Up"
* Foo Fighters "Everlong"
* Journey "Anyway You Want It"
* Motörhead "Ace of Spades"
* The Muffs "Kids in America"
* Red Hot Chili Peppers "Give it Away"
* System of a Down "Chop Suey"
* The Who "Pinball Wizard"
9 of those songs are also in this list of rumored songs, so maybe it could be true!!! God I hope so

robby (robert) said...

All these songs were confirmed as songs for RB1 at E3 today.

Anonymous said...

well the whole list was announced, and i think about 95% of the songs that were on the rumored list are on the final list. rb2 is gonna b way better than the first one.

And yes; It does include some of the songs on the list here.

what i wanna know about is shackler's revenge by guns n roses. i researched it a lil' bit, and found out that they're releasing it only through rock band 2, i think. sorta like saints of los angeles. so we've been waitin over 10 years for chinese democracy, now axl frickin releases it through a video game!?!? wtf?

Anonymous said...

back to rock band dlc only thing ive found is the say by scars on broadway hopefully its a free song but its comin in august and for those of you that dont kno scars on broadway they are the other half of system of a down the song is the single of the week on itunes its clean but still get it well you cant pretty kool song

Raider 76 said...

whoever has this blog is kinda behind i mean i kno ur prolly busy but heres next weeks dlc for july 22 Devour - Shinedown
Junkies for fame - shinedown(never heard it) and theres some nine inch nails songs - Burn, Capital G, and Last Devour should b fun

Raider 76 said...

the shinedown songs are singles but the nine inch nails songs(last, capital g, and burn are 440 pts for the pack

Anonymous said...

yeah also he didnt put up previews for the who pack. he also hasn't put up all the official setlist for rb2 yet, even though it doesnt really matter. anyway, next weeks dlc looks alrite, ill probably get all of it once i get more msp.

Anonymous said...

since afterlife and burn were both from that leaked mtv commercial, im really thinkin that we're gonna get aesthetics of hate and breed. if we get breed, i hope its with nevermind, but they'll just not include drain you, cuz its in rb2.

Anonymous said...

just a helpfull hint that i recently found out when it says 80 ms points for a limited time when you purchase a song apparently u can only play this song for a limited time the price isnt for a limited time i discovered this with saints of los angelas and it is stated in the disturbed pack too although it doesnt say that the songs can b played only for a limited time and harmonix doesnt have a contact number what a suprise and xbox live wont do anything about it and i got hanged up on multiple times what a crock of shit fuck harmonix in the ass

Bogardeth said...

What the heck, where are the new updates?

Nothing about the confirmed Track List?

No 'The Who' previews?

No discussion on the 'Nine Inch Nails' and 'Shinedown' songs that were just released?

What is going on with this website?

might be that the creator either forgot about it, or doesnt care anymore. he could've died too, lol. no previews for scars of broadway or staid, either.

Anonymous said...

for those of you that dont know scars on broadway they r the band of the guitarist/back up singer of system of a down the song is good but very short only 2:49 should b pretty fun tho

robby (robert) said...

This dude stopped posting huh? O well I'll check back in two weeks.

robby (robert) said...

Next week is
Rescue Me by Buckcherry
B.y.o.b by System of a down
down in the dirt by motley crue
toxicity by system of a down
life is beautiful by sixx am

robby (robert) said...

Okay actually the motley crue one is called face down in the dirt

all are masters

except for the SOAD the songs will cost .99 cents
The SOAD songs will be 1.99

Raider 76 said...

B.Y.O.B is a must for me and i might get life is beautiful but what the fuck is up wit crue get some of their older songs

Robby (Robert) said...

Yeah same goes here.

Raider 76 said...

If you could have any current band on rockband(current meaning not classic as in a album within the past 5 years) what would it be
Three Days Grace gets my vote

Raider 76 said...

Metallica's new single The Day That Never Comes(from the new album Death Magnetic) will premeire on rockband hopefully it isnt like saints of los angeleas because when it said 80 ms points for a limited time most people would think the price is that for a limited time but nope they only let you play it for a limited time fuck me over some more harmonix i think its the same with the disturbed songs

Anonymous said...

I'd say Slipknot

Robby (Robert) said...

Hey guys I have this weeks DLC:
Lately harmonix has been releasing a song or two each week for an artist thats in rock band 2. So this week is
Rio By Duran Duran
Girls On Film By Duran Duran
Girl U Want By Devo
Through Being Cool By Devo
and the last song artist is not on rock band 2:
Get Your Rock On By The Janitors
All are Masters And the two Devo songs are re-recorded. All will be Two dollars, but the janitors one is one dollar.

Robby (Robert) said...

To raiders comment: I'm gonna say three days grace or foo fighters.

Anonymous said...

OK this site is officially dead, besides this page. Why the hell did he abandon this site? This was actually pretty useful.

Raider 76 said...

anyone wanna keep this site goin on this page?

Raider 76 said...

well the rush album was a no-show but harmonix stated that this week will still have dlc suprise im praying for metallica's new single that was talked about earlier

robby (robert) said...

Yeah let someone else take control of the site. They replaced rush with locksley songs. There not all that great but she does is fun and catchy and only one buck.
Next week is:“Skullcrusher Mountain” (master) by Jonathan Coulton - 80 MSP/$0.99

“Livin’ on the Corner of Dude and Catastrophe” (master) by MC Frontalot - 80 MSP/$0.99

“Shhh…” (master) by Darkest of the Hillside Thickets - 80 MSP/$0.99

The jonathan one I don't care that much. It is so funny that we got a nerdcore rap song for rock band. And I never have heard that last song, but thats the weekly DLC.

Anonymous said...

No new info on the site in 2 months... how UNawesome

Anonymous said...

Next weeks songs are All that remains:

Chiron
Two weeks
This calling

Theyre all 80 points.

Anonymous said...
