Rock Band 2 details

As we all now know, Rock Band 2 is coming out for the Xbox 360 this September, and will be fully backwards compatible with the previous instruments as well as all the downloadable content you've gotten. Here's some new info on the game, a rumored tracklist and some other details.

Rumor 1 - All Rock Band 1 tracks will be available to download for free:

Xbox360.IGN.com editor Nate Ahearn had this to say in a discussion on GHWT vs Rock Band 2:

Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour create an interesting situation for gamers. If you bought Rock Band 1 then chances are you’ll feel cheated by the release of RB2, thus you’d think that GHWT would be the way to go as it somewhat redefines the music gaming genre. However, if you didn’t buy the first Rock Band then I would absolutely agree with notagoth. Immediately upon purchasing Rock Band 2 you’ll have the ability to download a huge library of songs, as well as all of the songs off of the original disc as a free download. Then again, Guitar Hero World Tour does allow users to create and share their own songs, so it’s really only a matter of time until the Rock Band library is eclipsed. At the end of the day it could come down to which series has earned your allegiance over the last year since RB’s original release.

Rumor 2 - The Tracklist:

On Wikipedia, there is claims of a playtester who has played the game, and posted as many tracks as he could remember, which is a pretty good amount. Some thoughts after the list:

A neat trio of songs for this upcoming week, it's the first 'Scene' pack.

Rock Bandage Previews! (April 29th DLC)

The song previews for next week are up! Click 'MUSIC' on the left to get to the band pages, and click on the band you want to hear.

Also, just a note, this website is slowly getting more and more content, but this is a one-man job, so just bear with me. I added the difficulty levels to the first batch of DLC that was on the site(the April 8th DLC). Also, this Blog may not be here next week, because it may be replaced with a brand new one. Wait and see, folks...

Rock Band DLC for April 29th, 2008

Odd setup for this upcoming week's DLC, we have two singles from The Mother Hips and another from Smashing Pumpkins:
  • The Mother Hips – “Red Tandy” (Master)
  • The Mother Hips – “Time Sick Son of a Grizzly Bear” (Master)
  • Smashing Pumpkins – “Zero” (Master)
Each song is 160 MS points, and there is no three-pack option. I really liked 'Time We Had' from The Mother Hips, it kind of sounded like Death Cab for Cutie, so if these songs are around the same, I may purchase both. And of course, 'Zero' is an amazing song.

Screaming for Vengeance DLC Previews up!

The previews for next week's song as well as the band profile is done! While I was uploading the previews, I noticed that "The Hellion" and "Electric Eye" are actually just one song, so we're only getting nine songs, not ten, next week. Kinda lame...

Rock Band DLC for April 22nd, 2008 (First album DLC!)

It's about time! The very first full-album release is here! Next Tuesday, you will be able to download all ten tracks from the Screaming for Vengeance album from Judas Priest! Here's a listing of all the tracks:

  • “The Hellion”
  • “Electric Eye”
  • “Riding on the Wind”
  • “Bloodstone”
  • “(Take These) Chains”
  • “Pain and Pleasure”
  • “Screaming for Vengeance”
  • “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’”
  • “Fever”
  • “Devil’s Child”

(All ten tracks utilize the original master recordings)

(“The Hellion” & “Electric Eye” will be offered together as 1 DLC track)

You can purchase the entire album for 1200 MS points, or buy any one song for 160 MS points.

Harmonix did a little Q & A also, about future album releases...

This is awesome. Any other sweet albums coming?

We're also happy to announce two more albums that are in the pipeline and coming in the near future- The Cars album The Cars and the Pixies Doolittle.

What about Who's Next?

Stay tuned! We'll have updates on upcoming DLC soon, including The Who, as information becomes available.

Each song will be 160 MS points, and as always you can buy all three and save a little for 440 MS points.
  • "Call Me" by Blondie (Master)
